Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Hi everyone!

I have spent a lot of time researching on myfico and new to credit in the US. Under the misconception and being nieve to credit I had app'd for cards that were out of my league using fako scores ablivous to the true fico scores that lenders use. I realized that I had no scores at all. I had medical bills go to collection many years back and I had worked to have them remove with PFD's but this meant nothing if you didn't have credit. I had created a clean slate but had not generated any new credit.

After committing time to gaining knowledge here on myfico I was fortunate to be added as an AU on a family members Chase freedom card in July 2011. I pulled my credit in December 2011 on TU and had generated a 782 (of course these are just numbers when you have a thin file). I applied for and received a secure card then and had realized it was my only option.

On February 4, 2012 I had generated a score for EQ of 702 and decided to apply for the newcomer card with cap1 thinking I would still get the same responses "Denied" but was approved for a 1k tl.

My 2012 goals: Nurture the cards I have paying on time each month No app's for new credit till the end of the year (prime card) Car loan with co-signer mid year (July birthday gift)

Ultimate goal: A first home buyer in the beginning of 2013 and a 800 fico score.... If that is at all possible.
Good luck to everyone and their goals. I wish you all success and look forward to reading about your accomplishments. It really is possible!!!

My only negative is utilization.  I have taken advantage of some balance transfers on some current cards so I hope to reduce my utilization by 50%.

Thank you!  Now, is there any way to keep my preferred font & color?

I have to redo it every time I post, I see...

I have an answer from an excellent techie here: "There isn't a way to set font preferences (size, color, etc) in profile at this time.  It has been put in the suggestion box".

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Well, I am a bit late in posting here this year.  I have been mostly in gardening mode since the last Fico fitness challenge.  2011 was a decent year for my Fico rebuilding.

My EQ score got to 777 at one point.  My Cap1 CO fell off on that report, leaving only one bad account reporting a max. of 90 days late.  That one is due to fall off in April according to my annualcreditreport.com I got last year.  My TU report is finally clean.  My last TU98 score is in my siggy, but that was a  few months ago.  My EX is still reporting the Cap1 CO and the 90 day late account.  Don't have a clue what that score is.  My util. is slowly coming down, and should be below 30% when the last of my baddies fall off in April.  My car and student loans will be paid this year.  Kay jewelers closed my account as inactive, and that hurt me on my util.  I maxed out on my Lowe's CL at 10K, but it is paid in full.  I closed my Sam's Discover and transferred the balance and total CL over to my CU Visa with no transfer fees.  I paid off a personal loan with my CU.  I took out a new installment account with another CU for a ATV.  My rebuilding hit 6 years this month.  I'm a stone's throw away from my ultimate goal of 800.  I'm working on making the next Fico Fitness Challenge the best one yet.  Good luck to everyone, and don't give up.  Rebuilding is a slow process with very few immediate rewards.  They come slowly but surely, and getting to the finish line is the goal.  It's a marathon.  You have to pace yourself.  Good luck to all!

tubesock here!

Nothing but Good news!

My TU score went up 10 pts as of today 2/20/12. I only need 1 point now to make it to my 2012 Fico Score goal, YAY!!!

On a side note:

I also got a CLI increase on my HHonors AMEX from $1000 to $3000. Not much, but I didn't want to be greedy. I'll request another CLI in 6mos.

My CC util will be 26% down from 44% when I started this challenge once everything posts at the beginning of March.

Smiley Very Happy Needless to say, I'm SUPER excited today!!!

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Hello everyone!

Current Situation:

$71K total non-mortgage debt on CR (reality? over $85K between us)

81% util

1 baddie left (30d in DEC08)

Student loans (add $33K to above number)

8 yrs AAoA

13 accts with balances

Refi house in 2010 (15yr @ 3.75%)

Had done our first major cleanup in 1998. (DH had his dad's mortgage on his report!)  Lots of bad stuff to fix from being young and irresponsible with our credit (as well as broke... LOL) Tune ups in 2007 and 2009.  Waited patiently for all the baddies to fall off, and I am down to one, husband down to 2.  Got the numbers up sufficiently to get a decent refi on the house in 2010.

Goals:

remove myself as AU on husband's CC's (thanks to the boards- had not thought of doing that, but should help alot) (and vice versa for him too!)

aggressively attack the debt and be debt free in 2 years

monitor and control the spending

get FICO's up over 750

adjust wallet

get better APR's

reduce number of accounts with balances

I have already gotten some great advice from the boards, and look forward to the 2012 challenge!
