Hello!
I am trying to fix my college mistakes by cleaning up my score. I just pulled my report in March, and found several inaccuracies, so I am in the process (tonight actually-lol) of sending Debt Verification letters. I also had my score drop from a 669 to a 623 bc of a collection on an apartment....my husband relocated and that was an early termination fee added on to our last months rent. I never received a collection notice, but when I called to pay apartments they referred me to the collection agency....I asked for, and received, a pay-for-delete notice in writing. They took my payment but still reported me to bureau as a paid collection?!?! So my goal is to use these forums to find info on how to address this matter. I also want to get to the 750 mark and purchase my first home hopefully next year (I was so close!). Another issue I want to resolve is after I fix my credit issues, I need to work on my husbands......joys of being a newlywed...Blah!
Here's to higher scores and lower rates!! **cheers**

A few weeks ago, I decided to trade in my 2001 Toyota Corolla. I had bought it cash 3 years ago, and it served me well. But with 185k miles on it, it needed many pricey repairs (including a $1500 catalyic converter). I thought for a long time before deciding to get a certified used car. I don't like having car payments again, but being a single mother juggling school and work, it's a good investment.
I was worried about financing because my credit isn't that great. But after trading in my old car & putting $1000 down, I financed my used 2011 Toyota at 4.9% =] My payments are under $300, and I no longer have to worry about unexpected repairs. The car has a 7 year extended warranty, and I'm hoping having a history of on time car payments will help my credit score.

Hello all. Extremely new to this healthy credit situation. I am attempting to get my scores at least to the 700's in the next year. I am planning on paying bills on time and not cosigning for anyone for anything. However, will need all the help and support I can get. Thanking all in advance. I recently had a BK discharged in June 2011, due to lack of judgement in cosigning for some one and along with that a few late payments since I was filing for BK. Anyway looking forward to a better financial future. HELLLPPP!!! LOL!

I'm really new to all this. Pulled my scores (here) on 2/14/12 they were Tu 499 and Eq 587. Tu I need to pull again, but Eq is 637. I have 1to collection I have not paid, but am working on getting a pfd together. Its online collections and are so far proving to be a pain. And one other co that should fall off on 6/12. I have had too many inq this year, but I was trying to get established. 2 cc 300 limits. Both bellow 100 pif each month. 2 secured installment loans for credit purposes and one other loan (snap on tools) All paid on time. Never late, but all are pretty new also. Any advise on something I can do to help my numbers?
I will give the same comment I just wrote to ymuffin1:

And good luck to both of you!

Decided to fix my credit in March, pulled a report for all three CRA and my GOD some of the stuff on there has me doing double takes. So far I have PID 4 collection accounts and paid them already after receiving the letters and just waiting for them to drop off. Went into a "rehab" program with my student loans and making payments on them after 10 payments they will update my reports and delete the derogatory items off of it. I have a collection account that is scheduled to drop off August 2012 so I am letting that one be. Child support is on my credit reports also but I am fighting with them to either take it off my report or change it from a collection account, this account will be the death of me as dealing with them is a NIGHTMARE. I have NEVER been late on my child support payments but in the state of FLA the courts only recognize if you are married that they won't go retroactive on you. So being that I lived with my ex for the first 4 years of my childs life, it didnt matter to them. So I agreed to pay an extra $100 per month to catch up on the arrears so how is this a collection account is beyond me.
Just got off the phone with another collection account on my credit report and it looks like they have it in their system that my account was pulled so they will delete it off soon also. THANK GOD!
I hope to purchase a new home in 2014, most of my derogatory accounts are scheduled to delete in 2014. Will keep you guys updated! ![]()
