Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

I'm fairly new, credit scores are around 640, 630 etc. How do I get my scores from the 640's to 670's, from what I've been reading 670-700 is decent. I'm in chpt 13 with 4 more payments to go, then ill get  chpt 13  discharge. Have reestablished credit over the past 4 years, 1 old  charg-off. Any help is appreciated

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Hi all,

New to this board.  Had a score in the high 600's, nearly 700, when I encountered some medical issues.  Following a lengthy unpaid LOA from my employer, I returned to work to be laid off.  Luckily, I worked just enough P/T hours to qualify for UE, but this has not been enough for us to pay our bills.  We were forced into BK and had to let our home go in foreclosure.

We are currently renting a beautiful house that we hope to purchase one day.  The owner will convert our rent agreement to a lease-to-own contract as soon as we say the word.  However, we have little savings and haven't the credit to purchase the home any time soon.  So in a lease we will remain for a while.

I had to finance my car at something like 26%.  Now that my BK has been discharged, and my auto loan company is reporting again, I hope to be able to refi that loan soon.  The payoff is something like $7600, and I currently have 62k miles on it.  The loan matures in April 2016, so it would definitely be worth my while to refi ASAP!

I have opened one CC since the BK (First Premier- $700 CL), and was able to maintain an open Macy's account through the BK ($100 CL).  Applied for Orchard and C1, but was denied for both.  Smiley Mad

Tried to pull curent FICOs but am receiving an error stating that I don't have enough history to calculate a score.  I assume this is due to the BK?  It discharged in April 2012.  Perfect payment history since the BK, so I have high hopes of getting my score up quickly.  Any help or advice would be MOST appreciated!!!!

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Greetings All:

I am new to this.  I filed bk13 in 2006.  I was able to pay it off 6 months earlier than expected (Dec. 2011).  When I went to purchase a home (Dec. 2011), I was told I had to wait for 12 months after discharge.  Now, I am within months of wanting to purchase a home and now I am being told 2 years.  Needless to say, I picked myself up and decided I would start with purchasing me a much needed car.  I was able to obtain a loan with Capital One.  Within 4 months, I was able to refinance my car with my credit union for 6%.  That is over half what I purchased it for with Cap 1.

I would like to get my scores in the 700's by 2013.

Here's to the future of owning my own home again and being financial savvy.

:-)

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

I will be attempting to get a mortgage in 3 months.  I got a couple of secured cards and a store credit card.  I wish I started to get my credit health straight earlier in the year.  I am so excited in the improvement in my score since July.  I unfortunately pulled a score in February but didn't act until July.  Lack of knowledge.  But now I am on the right track.  I really want to get to 640 as quickly as possible.  Paying bills on time, paying my cards off before their statement dates, and just watching my spending.  I know it will take time but I hope I will see 640 before end of the year.  Any suggestions?

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Hi everyone!

I have been a lurker for many years here. Regardless, I just signed up for SW. In years past I always had mid 600 credit scores, only negative was one 30 day late in 2004 which just dropped off. I am currently at 717EQ and looking to build up to high 700's. My biggest issue is high utilization, around 80%, however I should be bringing that down to 40-50% by next month.

I know it's a great community here and look forward to participating more!

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Hi Everyone!

New to this forum and It looks like I can get some great information.  A little bit about me.

Filed for Chp 7 in Augst. Discharged in 01/2012.  Lost my job a month later and was unemployed until August.  Finally have a new job that pays an hourly salary plus commissions. However, I won't start seeing any jump in income until November.  Its been a struggle but thanks to friends I have minimal expenses.

I got a secured CapOne card.  Put $200 to secure a $400 CL.  Its a start!

My issue is I need to get a new car. I still owe $9k on it and it has almost 80k miles on and is starting to show wear and is in need of repairs.  2 dealers so far have balked (unbelievable)  I will be posting more on this later.

So my goal is to get those numbers higher and higher!
