Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Smiley SadI am trying to fix my credit, I am young and I never really cared one way or the other about what my credit looked like so I just did whatever, plus I did not know how to manage my credit.  I am trying to develop a good history, and be able to buy a house and get a good car loan, I am doing this by paying off all of my charge-offs and collections, paying my open account balances and developing a good payment history, and paying down my student loans.  Smiley Sad

What else should I do?

Hello all!  I have been stuck at 606 for a while... I have paid down my credit card utilization to under 30%, I have an open collection that I make payments on but was advised not to pay it off because it will make my score go down?  I can settle with them.  Is this wise?  My bankruptcy was discharged 9/2008 and I do have two late cc payments from Nov and Dec 2010.  The only other baddie is my student loans that are on IBR and they total 60,000 making my debt ratio look crazy!  I know that time heals all wounds but is there a such thing as neosphorin for credit that can help it heal a little faster??? I heard they are changing the rules for down payments for FHA to 5% next year and I would like to become a first time home owner before the change.  Please help!!!

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

I'm hopping to get as close to 700 across the board by the end of the year as I can, I plan to app no more, let my accounts age, and make sure I have a great Utilization %.
