Thank you very much for the encouragement! I was so disappointed that I still don't have a job but I feel something wonderful about to happen for me so I am trying to keep a positive outlook on things. Having support is very much appreciated.

Greetings,

I am new member to this site.  I have enjoyed the wealth of knowledge found within the forum.  I have been a small business owner since 2001.  Like many, I took a huge hit in 2006 and lost pretty much everything.  Listening to bad counsel, I filed pro-se bankruptcies on three(3) different occasions to save my properties, which in the end I allowed to go into foreclosure.  In 2008, I started all over, and I haven't missed a payment ever since.  However, I am still struggling from low credit scores, (1) identity theft, (2) maxed out credit, (3) escalating student loans.

Ideally, I am joining this forum to get advise on how I should proceed on 5 derogatory items that remain on my credit bureau.

1. 3 dismissed bankruptcy 2006, 2007, 2008

2. Certegy returned check - I have disputed the item and they have replied they do not have a copy on file bc it is electronic.
3. First Premier - Account charged off in 2007, I think
4. Aurora Bank, FSB - mortgage servicer that refuses to provide me with payment history.

2011 Accomplishments

Purchased 2010 Hyundai Genesis

2012 Approvals

GECRB Chevron CL $700

GECRB Walmart CL $600
GECRB JCPenny CL $300

Capital Onke Kohls CL $300

NFCU CL $1000

Denials
Citi Shell Card - reason bankruptcy

Discover - Late Payment
USAA - inquiry, public record, high utilization

2013 Challenges

1. Remove Aurora Bank listing

2. Remove Certegy Listing

3. Settle with First Premier
4. Remove bankruptcies

2013 Goals

1. Pay down all credits cards and keep at 20% utilization

2. Get approved for USAA credit card

3. Get approved for American Express Card

If your FP was CO in 2007, I believe it should be near ready to drop off of your CR. Are you wanting to pay the balance down to improve credit or to just have it paid off and a clear conscious?

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

I am currently a graduate student and make around 12K a year.  I started my credit journey in December 2011 with opening three credit cards: one with a local credit union,  paypal smartconnect, and the amazon store card.  I added a few more cards during August and September 2012, then applied for 2 Amex cards this month for backdating purposes.

My Goals for 2013 include:

Reaching a $4000 credit line

Adding another $3000 to savings

Getting a 730 score across all three bureaus.

I've learned alot from reading and participating in these forums and look forward to achieving my goals.

Starting Score (January 2013): TU: 704, EQ: 679, EX: 687
Current Score (September 2013): TU: 741. EQ: 703, EX: 712
Goal Score: 730 Across the Board

Taking the challenge after stupid mistake.

After years of having a low score and not understanding it...I finally raised my scores to 750 a year ago. Now, this past November I had an old credit card I never used getting charged for iTunes purchases I was making and didn't even realize it was going to THAT card. So there my credit card sat....month after month with late payments bc I was paying no attention to it. So they closed it FOR me....and now my score has nosedived to a 580.

I'm reading how to raise this score asap on the forum...there's lots of great info...bc I still can't believe I let something like this happen. One too many credit cards will ruin you.

[ Edited ]

Hope that I'm not too late to the party.  What can I say.  I found myfico in 2009.  I had/have 10 charge offs and collections from 2006 after losing a job.  I came here in 2009 to get myself on the right path.  In 2010 I opened a Cap One tradeline.  First new tradeline since 2005.  Then I subscribed to myfico reporting so that I could monitor my progress.  My scores were 534 EQ & 555 TU in May of 2010.  From late 2010 to late 2011 I opened 4 more tradelines including a Citicard, Cap One, Orchard Bank and First National.  In 2011 I began to pay off the collections and charge offs.

2012 Was a Good Year

  • Started reading the forums to figure what I should do to obtain a mortgage.
  • Increased TU FICO from  578 in September - to 656 December and increased EQ from 634 in June to 675 in December
  • Paid off all collections except for one
  • No late payments or missed payments since 2006
  • Increased CL on two Cap One cards

2013 Goals

  • Increase EQ FICO to 700 by Oct and increase TU Fico to 715 by Oct (Mortgage Lender pulls as of Jan: EX 684, EQ 674, TU 656
  • In Jan I paid off the last collection
  • All of remaining 9 collection and charge offs derogs are scheduled to drop from my reports between March and Oct
  • Obtain a USDA mortgage by Jan 18 and close on my house March 1st (In underwriting right now)
  • Feel better about about sending a good deal of cash to my mother every month to support her after my father died
  • Increase my rainy day fund

Starting Score: EX 575/TU 534/EQ 570
Current Scores per Myfico: (As of 12-14-13) EX 690/EQ 685/TU 679
Goal Score: 720

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Im new to the board and just learned about the process of possibly deleting/removing negatives off of my report. I just pulled all three CRA to compare my items. So far there is not a lot of work to do on my report, but the steps to repair them are a little overwhelming to the point where I'm considering a credit repair agency. But after hearing some horror stories and reading a few forums on here where people like me have improved their scores themselves; I decided to give it a try. Starting Monday, I will work on tackling those negative items with the CRA/CA with letters and calls.

My goal, for 2013, is to have a 720 across the board, buy my first home within the next 8 months, and refinance my car.

Starting Score: 542(EX)573(EQ)581(TU)
Current Score: 542(EX)573(EQ)581(TU)

In your signature shows a score from "EP" - who is that?  Did you mean EQ?
