I am wanting to buy a new home! And I need to get all my ducks in a row. Need help!
My credit is horrible! I want to raise my score just not too sure how?
Hi Everyone,
I am new here but have already learned a lot and got some good advice.
I was never taught about proper finance growing up and made some bad decisions in my college years. I neglected a lot of my financial responsibilities for a long time but enough is enough. I am ready to take controll of my credit and finances instead of letting them control me
Starting at a myFico score of 609 - I hope I can get this into mid 700s and higher quickly.
I already applied 100% of my tax return to credit card debt. My credit utilization between all accounts (5 Cards Total) is about 25% and my goal is to get this under 10% as quick as I can.
Tomorrow I am going to write some GW letters I learned about tonight here to try and get some old PIF accounts taken off to help boost my score and call an old credit union who did not report correctly.
The last obstacle I have is a false balance I fought with BOA with for months many years ago. They wrote the account off in 2006/2007 but recently a CA has got ahold of it and is reporting it current and at DOUBLE the balance BOA closed. This is the biggest struggle I will face as BOA is ignorant and stubborn on this account and it will be real challenging to get it removed.
I look forward to more advice and interaction on here and only seeing my score go up from here.
Have been reading the site for a couple of years and have appreciated the expertise and advice of everyone. I also really appreciate people's willingness to share their credit issues and the success (and occasional failures) as they try to resolve and improve their credit.
We are selling our home this month and will be in the market for a new home in a couple of months (our house sold way faster than we expected so looks like we're renters for a bit).
Attempted mortgage loan mod in 2010 turned into (almost) foreclosure fiasco. With the foreclosure notation and 120 lates on our mortgage history we were locked out of a new mortgage until at least the end of this year (FHA Only). We GW the bank (Chase) who has removed all lates (left 90 day late on though) and the foreclosure notation (we paid all back payments, fees etc and have been on-time for over 2 years).
Am working my scores into the low to mid 700's so we can qualify for the best mortgage with the minimal issues.
Hello Everyone!..
Would be nice to finally be able to be pre-approve for a morgage loan.. I know fixing credit reqiures a lot of patience and money.. and I will try my best to do good.
So my goal is to raise my credit score and start saving... and finally to buy my first home..
Hello there!
I've been reading the boards for a while now, and I even began the 2012 challenge, but unfortunately school and life got in the way so I wasn't able to nurture my credit as much as it deserved! My goals for this year are to get my balances down to under $100 total (only at about $800 currently, but I'm a student so it's still kind of hard to pay off), get a jump start on paying back my student loans, and to garden until November (I applied and got approved for two cards today that more than doubled my total credit limit, but I don't want to push my luck)!
This all started with finding out my FICO score from free trial, but then spoke with the nicest lady on phone when cancelling and decided to continue subscription.
After divorce, I was left financially devastated. However, instead of dwelling on past, I am focusing on the present and my future goals.
My 2013 goals:

Greetings! A month late to the party, but that's OK.
Being self-employed, cash flow is erratic, so staying on time with all accounts, mortgages, cards, taxes, etc is one big goal for 2013. Successfully getting on the right student loan repayment plan is another. And, my line usage is high, though one card got paid in full in 2012. Woot! Must reduce rest below 50%, which will be a haul. Oh, and save for a two week trip to NZ in 2014. Planning to move there in 8-10 years, though I don't think they use credit scoring like the US. 0.o
Best of luck to all the participants!
