Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

I have been working on homeownership since May 2012 and I'm still in an apartment. I've worked with NACA... BOMB! I've worked with First Guaranty Mortgage Company... DOUBLE BOMB! After a recent negative experience with FGMC snatching away our mortgage approval the day we were supposed to sign the contract for the home we love, we've decided to transcend dysfunction. No more sub 620 score programs!!!

The goal this year? Hit 620 and run with it! At this point, my credit score is moving upwards. No late payments in the past year. One collection almost paid off and one judgement almost paid off. Credit utilization at 7%. We're so close, we can taste it! As much as we try not to be frustrated, we are, but we continue to press on! I'm looking forward to no more online over the phone business with people who either don't know what they're doing, or want to meet their monthly goal. This is our year for homeownership!!!

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

This year my sole plan is to get my FICO over 750. In 2012 I discharged Ch 7 at the beginning of the year. I got Orchard bank two months later and closed the year out with two more cards with modest limits. I started 2013 by opening several cards and an auto loan. I rehabilitated my student loan in Feb. I plan on holding off on inquiries for the next 6 months since I had so many the first part of they year. I know this is a huge goal since my score is currently under 600. But I will work diligently to make it happen.

Starting Score: 522(2/24/13)
Current Score: 675(4/3/13)
Goal Score: 750

Cap1 Platinum - $1000, Cap1 CashRew - $500, Orchard Bank - $300
Walmart-$500, Amazon-$800, Vic. Sec.-$250, Maurice's-$250, Kohls-$300

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

I am new to the site, and this is my first challenge. I'm looking to improve my credit score in hopes for a home purchase. I bought a home back in 1999, and tried to short sale after struggling to pay the mortgage as a single mom of two. It was heart breaking. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to my credit after that. Now my situation has changed, I'm still a single Mom, but have advance in my roll at work. I've been renting the house I'm in now for 4 years @ 1200.00 a month. I think I'm ready to get this flipped towards a mortgage, and call my home mine. I plan to read the feeds, and find some good advise on how to get started.

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Thanks for the information!  I was not sure what the difference between the different companies that allow you to look at your scores.  So far, my FICO seems to be the most honest one that I have looked at.  Having boards, options to choose from.  I was wondering what happened to Experian (sp?)  I thought I remembered being able to look at all 3 from here before.  Oh well, the more things change.  Thanks!  :-)

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Hello, I have been reading all of the different posts on these forums and I have learned so many new things. It is really great to see that I'm not alone in my credit journeys. My goal this year is to buy a house! I changed my util from 88% to currently 29%. I have to admit it's a great feeling to see $0 balances on my credit cards and no longer have a car payment. I still have a few bucks to pay on 2 cards but I'm getting there. Thanks for being here!

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

I attempted to fix mine and my husband's CR last September when I found this forum.  With a teenager, 2 toddlers and a high stress job, I couldn't keep up. So here I am today, completely dedicated, have saved the funds to tackle this once and for all. I switched my job and now work 2 days a week so I can concentrate on our finances and get us into our dream home this year!!! I had a mentor here. I forgot his name. Smiley Sad If you see this and remember me, PLEEAAASE pm me again.

My CO's:

Chase judgement $2076

HSBC $904

People's Lending $1430

Univ of Phonex $455

Account Recovery $102

My husband's CO's

LVNV (used to be HSBC/Bestbuy)  $4143

RBS $620 (stated past due on CR)

I was going to start by calling them and asking for PFD. Should I do that? I'm trying to pay these ASAP. I have some money saved, but I want to do this the quickest way it'll get my scores up. Please help!

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

I'm also new here and really want to get into a house instead of wasting money on renting. I have a better job and make more money and have started saving in order to correct all the negative marks on my CR. If somebody wouldn't mind helping mentoring me that would be great too and look forward to the help of this community.
