Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Please tell me what you did to increase your score so much in so little time.  My score is increasing, but not like I want it to -- very slowly.  I too am trying to qualify for an FHA mortgage very soon.

Also, could you please tell me what NFCO is; I've seen it in several postings.

Responses would be greatly appreciated!

Are you maxxed out on your credit cards?  If you are, the fastest way to get up to 40 points or more on your credit score is to pay them down to almost nothing.  My credit score went from 603 to 617 after one card started reporting a lower balance, bringing my debt-to-income ratio from 100+% to 75%.  Then my credit score went from 617 to 639 when one of my cards started reporting a lower balance, which took my debt-to-income ratio from 75% to 25%.  My score could go several points higher once I get them paid down to (and reporting) in the 0-15% range.

Starting Score: 603
Current Score: 652 | 655 | 656 from lender pull
Goal Score: 740

When I added my new CC in Januay and had a few statements report I saw a pretty good jump in score, but my most recent score showed a utilization of 76% and on my next statement it should show closer to 15% so I'm hoping for a significant jump by early next week.

MYFICO SCORES: 06/2013 = 697 (TU) - 06/2013 = 685 (EQ) - 06/2013 = 666 (EX)

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Hello all IM new here IM working hard to get my credit in shape I wrecked it when I was younger (lots of bad choices). Ill be looking forward to any advice and wisdom you all have.

Goal credit score in the 700's by August 2014

Credit scores Fico EQ 596, Fico TU 620, Fako EX 601 (free credit report .com)

Baddies:

Sallie Mae 3 Lates reporting on my credit across two accounts (looks like 6 lates but its one loan two parts) seems to be seriously hurting my score that with short credit history average of 4 years 3 months. Only thing I can find to possibly get it changed is to loan rehab but that process seems very confusing any advice?

Bank of the west Collection account to fall off in April 2014 (owe them $594 its with an CA right now should I pay for delete?)

Efforts so far:

I have 3 hard inquiries that will fall off in January 2014 so that helps a little bit. Form what I have found looking around the site so far Ive started to build some credit with secured cards I have a Cap1 card at only $200 for now I wanna build that to $3000 by January 2014. Through my credit union Golden1 I have an $500 Secured card that Ill have at $1500 Limit by September thats the cap on it with them have to investigate more to find out about higher limit. Ill be going to BOFA this month to get there secured card starting out at a $500 limit and growing it to $2000 by January 2014.

Hopefully by April next year my scores will jump a lot my inquires and bank west will drop off my report and ill have a little credit history build up.

Anything else I should be doing to help?

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

New here. I found this forum a few weeks ago, everyone here seems very happy.

I have one question: Do you need many credit cards and a mortgage to get to a 700 CS?

No all you need is a mixture of loans in good standing like revolving credit and installmemt loans. Also keep your credit card use under 30% of you limit.

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Hi all!

Many thanks to all the posters. This forum has been a huge help rebuiding my credit.

After a few serious app sprees in recent years acquiring a portfolio of eleven credit cards, I am now in the garden.

My next goal is a good rate for an auto loan in about two years.

Seven years ago I suddenly lost my job and incurred big medical debt. My scores were in the 400's.

Time heals all wounds!

Starting: Equifax FICO ~400

Current: Equifax FICO 783

Goal: Equifax FICO 800

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Hello All!

Have been lurking and reading for a few days now and am ready to jump in and attempt to rebuild my credit.

The main debts I have to deal with are multiple private student loans which have gone ignored for years.  I know I need to take responsibility and come up with some sort of plan for getting these back in good standing and beginning payments.  Once I get control of these and get rolling on payments, I hope to earn access to more credit and get my CL up to a low but respectable size.

I have no major upcoming obligations financially for the foreseeable future, so I can focus solely on efforts to improve my credit score.  This site has already been a fantastic resource in the short time I have known about it, and I look forward to being a part of the community in the future.
