14 point score drop?

Can someone tell me why my credit score dropped 14 points because I didn't use a card?  Here is the reason  they gave for the drop:

There are no recent balances on your revolving credit accounts.

Your credit report shows no recent balances on your revolving accounts. Your FICO score was hurt because you are not currently demonstrating active revolving credit management.

What to do about this: You might consider moderate and responsible use of your credit cards (such as charging low balances and repaying them on time).

Isn't not using a card "responsible use a credit card"?

Thanks,

My score was 802 it is now 788

Re: 14 point score drop?

Hey Sandy, they told you why your score dropped. When you don't use (or don't allow a balance to report on) your revolving accounts, FICO scoring thinks that you are afraid of your credit and will ding you accordingly. Allow a minor balance to report to one of your cards. And by minor, I mean $10 or something and then pay if in full by the due date, so that you don't have to pay interest.

Sorry about the point loss. Smiley Sad
