6.75 yr old collection worth an average of.......................52 points

DW and I had an old collection due to drop off in March 2008.  It was on 3 reports of out combined 6, and it suddenly dropped off this month without me doing anything - I was waiting for it to drop off.

Resulted in MAJOR score jumps

For me on EX - 49 points

For DW on EQ - 56

For DW on EX - 51

If I am not mistaken, that is an average of 52 points, range 49 to 56, for a collection that was due to drop off in March 2008.

Current scores are high 700s (EQ and TU) and mid 700s (EX, due to counting a HELOC as a CC)

That is a huge amount of points for a collection that old.  I am really surprised, but I have been saying it was big for some time.

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

During this past year I have had a charge off from Capital One roll off of all three credit reports.  Each time it is worth roughly fifty points.

Nice to know I'm not alone in waiting for them to come off.
Though I doubt I'd get 50 points each or I'd be at 950 on EQ and EX Smiley Happy

As happy as I m for everyone getting these giant score boosts, I am still curious why my one CA dropping off has only been worth 3 points on EQ and 6 points on EX.

Weird.

Ya know, I have thought the same thing.  It could be that losing the CA moved me into a new bucket, so I did get the jump, which was immediately offset by the drop due to rebucketing.  An interesting theory, and probably the most reasonable explanation.
