re: what I did... I hammered away at it (still hammering). Lots of Goodwill letters, writing and calling and writing and calling. In one instance I found that they said a firm "NO" to the goodwill letter, and "NO" to contact from the collection company itself, but when I called in directly to ask about GWremoval they said "sure" and got rid of the paid debt right away. You really never know! I also had one collection fall off naturally,... opened up three credit cards (still hurting from those inquiries, and the two from cards that said no.. ouch). Also, I got my loan providers to knock off a few lates (goodwill again). I still have a flawed file, but it's so much better from where I started.

I've been tempted to try and start working on the credit files of family members. It's amazing what you can accomplish.
