AMEX's and AAoA

So I've got two AMEX cards (BCP and blue sky). Both are 13 year old accounts. If I were to close BCP, it would still contribute to my AAoA (4.5 years).

If in a year, I reapply for BCP, open a Blue and close BlueSky, I would get a new account number and a new account on my CR.

Now technically, I've got four AMEX accounts reporting on my CR. One will fall off in about 9 years, one will fall off in about 10 years, and the last two are my newly opened BCP and Blue. the following year, I close my two Amex accounts, and open a BlueSky and a BCE.

Suppose I repeat this wash and rinse cycle over and over. In perhaps 2-4 years, my AAoA would come close to equaling the member since date on my Amex cards.

Would this be considered gaming the system? While I'm not sure why this feels very unwise to do, anyone have any practical insight to add to this strategy?

Re: AMEX's and AAoA

Without giving it much thought, the first two things that come to mind are your FICO score dropping for INQ'S and AMEX not liking it and FR or AA or something. Wouldn't it just be better to open another type of AMEX and get your membership date on it? Also, a manual review of your CR by a mortgage broker would be like WHAT is this one up to? Why so many AMEX accounts.?

Starting Score: 693 TU FICO, 679 EQ FICO
Current Score: FICO 8 = 844(9/15) EQ, 827 TU, 811 EX (7/15); mortgage FICO= 758 (9/15)EQ5, 797 TU4, 748 EX2 (7/15)

Re: AMEX's and AAoA

Excellent points. I guess I will stick to just opening up a Blue and platinum when they offer the 100k sign up bonus again.
