Aging of late payments

I have some late payments for BofA that are now two years old, but BofA reports three months behind for me for some reason.  Does a late that appears for November or December of 2008 get counted as two years old even though BofA has not reported on-time payments for November and December of 2010?  In other words, for scoring purposes, does FICO recognize that the payment is over two years old because of the date of the payment and the current date, or does it look at my report and see that there are only 21 on-time payments after the late payment and age it as if it is 21 months old?

I suppose it doesn't matter that much.  Just curious if I'll see any additional score jumps the next few months when November and December of 2010 finally report as on-time, or if my score already reflects that these lates have passed the two year mark.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Aging of late payments

If I understand your question, I would respond as follows.

FICO scores the reporting of each individual delinquency by its date and severity, not later payment status..  Returning an account to paid as agreed status after a delinquency does alter the date of the prior reported delinquency.

For example, if you have a 30-day late reported in 11/2008, its individual date since delinquency is calculated based on the 11/2008 date. The creditor may either report an additional 60-day late in 12/2008, report payment of status back to good-standing, or make no reporting at all.

If any new chain of delinquencies later occurs, they add additional delinquencies, each with their own date aqnd level of delinquency.

Re: Aging of late payments

I think that answers my question.  I haven't been late since December 2008, but when I check my reports, BofA doesn't show the payment status for November or December of 2010.  So, if you are looking at the payment history, it only shows 22 months of on-time payments because it hasn't yet reported the November and December 2010 payments.  I was trying to figure out if the December 2008 payment is calculated as 2 years old on that tradeline even though it hasn't updated for November and December of 2010.  I understand you to be saying that the fact that the tradeline hasn't updated for November and December of 2010 is immaterial to how FICO looks at the age of the December 2008 payment.
