My Grandmother has a Amazon Visa the Account is 6 years old has a Bal of 1000 Credit line is 3500 . She lives wirth me and i help her pay bills infact the 1000.00 in on a promtion she charged for me and I pay If she adds me as a Authorised user will the 6 years add to my report or will the 1000 of 3500 make my score worse
really im asking do you think it will help or hurt score more
We need some more information before any of us can hazard a guess:
* What is the oldest account currently on your reports? (open or closed)
* Has there ever been a late payment on your grandmother's card?
* What is your current CC utilization? What is your total credit limit?
* Do you think you could pay your grandmother's card to $0? If so, by when?
The general idea when considering whether you could benefit from being added as an AU is to find a card that is:
(a) much older than your oldest account
(b) free from any late payments
(c) capable of being kept at a very low balance (or $0).
If all three things are true about the card, go ahead and try it. Otherwise it is not worth doing.
oldest is 3 years open CC
Im going to start paying it down faster the charge is mine anyway
and nope never been late
as for my Balance last month i had 3$ reporting
Until you can get her balance paid down to $200, I would not try the AU experiment. More likely to hurt rather than help given the card's currently higher utilization.
After you do that it might give you a few points. The reason it won't be more than a few is that her card isn't "much much older" -- just a couple years older.
