Are 100+ swings normal?

I have just recently subscribed to the scorewatch program, and so don't know what to expect in terms of credit score monitoring. Our family is in the process of moving out of state, and have been shifting payments away from our bank account to our credit cards. When our credit card balances rose about $1,000, my score went from 807 to 689. When a different card reported an additional $500 in new balance, my score went from 689 to 796. This is within the span of the last ten days. Is this normal? What I have read has suggested that slow and steady wins the race, and not reports about these type of roller coaster numbers.

While it can be rare, this large of a swing certainly isn't unheard of.

You could have gone from 0% to 90+% utilization for example, and if you are getting odd inqus from your soon to be new home that could add to it.
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid
