Can a 6 year old 30 day late really affect my score?

My TU and EQ scores are much lower than EXP. When I called MyFico today about my alert problem (another post) they lady mentioned that one of my accounts, a 30 day late in 2002 was probably having a huge effect on my score. On TU and EQ it says "30 days late" on EXP it says "Included in Bankruptcy." Does FICO really even "see" that? My assumption was that whether it's listed as late or IIB they would both equally have a small effect since it was so many years ago. Does this lady know what she's talking about?

I have exactly the same item in exactly the same year (no bankrupcy though) Its scheduled to drop off next year but I would like it to disapear sooner especially if its having a big effect. I'd be interested to hear people's answers too.
