Closed my 9 Month AMEX CARD/No change in Fico Score

I just received an alert today after I closed AMEX on March 9th.  My score remained unchanged even though I paid off the balance before closing this account, and I had this account for only 9 months.

Re: Closed my 9 Month AMEX CARD/No change in Fico Score

Closing a card will not help the FICO score as the damage has been done to length of history when it was opened.  It can hurt the score if it causes your utilization to rise.  The good thing is you don't have so much avail credit which fres othr lender to offer you more by raising your limits. I've seen the annual fees on the regular and Gold Amex and it was a good thing to close it if it were one of those.  Just give it time and your scores will rise.

Brammy,

It was an AMEX Blue Card. They gave me a good initial limit of $5,000.
