Consequences to FICO for new card

What are the consequences to my FICO scores for getting the new DM card?

They only inq'd to TU.  I had one set of 3 mortgage inq from JUL10,  when I refinanced the house on all three bureaus. No others.

The mortgage is the newest CC on my reports @ AUG10.  Next newest CC account opened is SEP09.

The $6500 CL will dilute my util% a little, but that will be insignificant I think since it was 81% on TU. How much of a hit is 1 inq?

How much of a hit is a new CC for the cards without an inq?  Can it ever be a good thing to add a CC to your new credit category?

(I know YMMV... but just an idea of how much. 5 pts? 10 pts? 25 pts? 50 pts?)

Starting Score: 693 TU FICO, 679 EQ FICO
Current Score: 748 TU(12/12), 771 TU98 , 824 TU08 FICO, 776 EQ FICO , 735 EX(9/12) FICO
Goal Score: 750+, but shooting for the 800's

my wallet: Hyatt Visa Sig ($23K), B&N World MC ($17.3K), Amex RP Gold (NPSL w/ S&T), Hilton Surpass (10K), Freedom Visa Sig ($8.6K), Discover It ($8K), Amex BCP ($9K), FNBO Visa (13.1K), Citi Dia Pref MC ($3.7K),Sam's D ($8.5K), Walmart D ($7.5K), JCP($5.3K), Dicks MC ($2K)

Re: Consequences to FICO for new card

No one can give you a number as it is going to be different for everyone.  You are going to get dinged for a new INQ, new account, and lowered AAoA.  Depending on the thickness of your file it can be anything from just a couple to significantly more.  Anyone that tells you anything different is just guessing.  How much any change affects anyones score is different for every individual.

The only time I can think of that adding a new card in and of itself would be somewhat beneficial is if it increases you credit mix, i.e. adding a store card or the like.  In general I think the mix is over rated and folks worry about it to much.  If it will help your UT out a good bit you could see an overall increase.

You may see an initial 5-10 decrease for the INQ and new account but that will go away over the course of time as the account ages.
