I have 3 credit cards that have been charged off. The balance owed is about $12,000. If I began to pay down this amount will it have any affect on my credit score? The FICO simulator said if I paid $2,000 of my revolving credit (this is the charge offs) my score would go up 20 to 40 points. Is this true?
