Darn You Equifax!!

Why, why, why is my Equifax score stuck? It's been the same since July with no movement whatsoever even though I have paid things down, etc...all the while, TU and Experian have all updated almost monthly.  Anyone else have this problem?

Starting Scores (9/19): EQ - 474/TU - 528/EX - 502
Current Scores (09/22): EQ - 617- TU - 638/EX - 647
Comenity M/C - $6730.00, BJs Perks MC - $2800.00, Credit One - $1200.00, Credit One - $800.00, NFCU -$6300.00, Care Credit - $5000.00, William Sonoma - $3500.00, Overstock - $4100.00, Pottery Barn - $2000.00>

Re: Darn You Equifax!!

It sounds like your issue is ultimately with a particular monitoring product you have purchased (the myFICO Ultimate 3B) -- why isn't working the way you expect it too, in terms of giving alerts and so forth?  But the issue or question is not fundamentally with how the FICO model itself works.

Here's an easy way to test that.  Subscribe to Credit Check Total for $1.  That will get you your FICO 8 score for all three bureaus.  Then cancel the CCT subscription within the 7-day trial period.

If CCT also says that your EQ score hasn't moved, then it sounds like your EQ score may really not be moving.  You should carefully inspect the three credit reports you got from myFICO and from CCT to see if EQ is different in some way than EX and TU.  Maybe EQ lacks an account that they have, an account that produces score fluctuations.

But if CCT says that your score has moved significantly, then the problem appears to be with the 3B product you purchased from myFICO -- alerts have not been set up with EQ somehow.  In that event contact customer service and explain.

Re: Darn You Equifax!!

Good luck.

PS.  Can you let us know on what date you purchased your myFICO 3B?  If it was fairly recent (e.g. Oct 5) then you shouldn't be surprised if it takes one of the bureaus some extra time to get your alerts set up.
