Discrimination?

Hello

I am very interested in finding out how much discriminatory decisions lie in the lending practices, which also pulls in the crediting agencies. How do they determine how much a credit score decreases or increases? And what is the time frame for increases? I much suspect that there is discriminatory practices in increasing and decreasing credit scores to keep certain individuals according to race or ethnicity, paying......I try to do research on this. If anyone else has any ideas or feelings please advise.

Re: Discrimination?

Is there discrimination in FICO scoring? The answer is no...and yes.

FICO does not directly consider race. So in that sense, FICO is color-blind.

However, income plays a strong indirect role in FICO scoring (paying bills on time is a lot easier if you're making $50,000 a year than if you're struggling by on $20,000). Race and income ARE correlated. So, therefore, FICO scores and race are linked by proxy.
