Dispute or leave alone

I have 3 old CC accounts that have been closed for 3+years.  They have late payments in the history which affects my Fico scores. These credit cards extend back 7-8 years.

Would it improve my score if I disputed, and were removed because of the late payments OR leave them alone because it shows a longer credit history? Also, I have 2 refinanced installment loans. Should I try to dispute the closed account so only the current loan shows or leave it alone? Thankyou!

Re: Dispute or leave alone

If they're legitimate late payments, disputing them would be against the TOS of the MyFICO community.  I would recommend GW letters in that case.  Of course, if the reporting is inaccurate, then you should dispute.

That being said, how late are these payments (30, 60, 90 or more)?  If they're on accounts that are over 3+ years and it's not 90 days late or more, they may not be having that big of an impact on your score, IIRC.
