I was told yesterday by one of my creditors, that if you dispute a charge and they don't respond, then negatives (or what you are disputing) will automatically drop off. Then again, they might find negative info they weren't reporting before, and if they do then your score will drop

Disputing negatives also updates the activity date in your report for this account.  Therefore, if you dispute a four year old negative and they leave it as is, the activity date will now show it as a new negative and your score will drop.  This happened to me when I disputed a Macy's acct.  Two CRA's removed the negative but the third, Transunion simply updated the activity date.  My score dropped with them because of this.
