I thought that I'd pass on some information about points lost from more than one card reporting a balance.
I haven't been too concerned about my maximum score lately and have just been building history. I was using all six of my open cards and letting them all report balances each month.
I have started to pay my balances down to find out just where my maximum score lies after recently adding a few accounts.
EQ picked up two credit cards reporting zero balances on the same day:
Capital One from $8 to $0
EQ Message: Balance Amount Decrease
AMEX Zync from $32 to $0
EQ Message: Balance Percent Decrease
As you can see the balances were very small and didn't really have an effect on my overall UTI (Currently 26% of $16K) but my score increased from 671 to 676 for a gain of 5 points.
So going from 6 of 6 cards with a reporting balance to 4 of 6 cards reporting a balance I gained 5 points.
I'll try and stop back as I pay down the other cards. The other cards will also be knocking down my UTI.
Back for another update.
My Chase Freedom card was paid from $568 to $0 and I picked up another 7 points. I went from 676 to 683.
I still have 3 cards of 6 reporting balances and my UTI dropped about 4% and is now around 22%.
The last time my EQ score was above 680 was when it was at 682 on 5/21/2013. I was stuck at 680 for the loooongest time even with only one card reporting less than 10%.
The last time I was above 683 was on 2/3/2013 when my score was 697. The highest score I was ever able to acheive since I started rebuilding was 703 for about 2 weeks during 11/2012 when my recent history was only about 7 months old and I had a very limited amount of credit.
I think I might have a good shot at surpassing 703 with 3 cards and 22% UTI to go. We will find out in the next 3 to 4 weeks!
Thanks for sharing, Jamie! Keep up the good work!
