Equifax Score: Dinged by a paid account

Morning, I had an old Verizon account that I paid off in 2013 for less than the reported amount.  It was marked down as paid.  It was still listing as a collection account (or at least I thought I did) so I filed a dispute.  After looking at it again, it was listed as paid, but I misread my credit report.  Today, I got an update email from myFico.  That paid account just dinged me for 22 points on my Equifax report.  Is that right?  I'm getting dinged again?  Did I screw up in disputing?

I'm trying to clean up my report and get my scores higher so I can qualify for an USDA Mortgage Loan.  I was close, but with a 22 point ding, I don't think I qualify now.

Thanks in advance,

S.Young

If you disputed the account, it was not factored in to your score while it was in dispute. Once the dispute ends, it gets factored back in.
