FAKO VS FICO comparison

Just a note for those that compare FAKOs to FICOs and say that CK is usually close.  Walmart TU08 came out today.  DW's FICO was 754, her TU on CK was 644.  That's just a difference of 110 points.

Starting Score: 504
July 2013 score:
EQ FICO 819, TU08 778, EX "806 lender pull 07/26/2013
Goal Score: All Scores 760+, Newest goal 800+
Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge

Current scores after adding $81K in CLs and 2 new cars since July 2013
EQ:809 TU 777 EX 790 Now it's just garden time!

June 2017 update: All scores over 820, just pure gardening now.

Re: FAKO VS FICO comparison

For me it is similar on the Vantage part. It says 680 and WM FICO says 676. It was 709 before I added 4 new TLs and had util report over 50% on a card and WM FICO was 706. I don't take it as an actual score and any similarities are pure coincidence. Just use it for the report of Util, new inquiries, TLs, etc. and that's it.

As of Feb: AAoA 1 year, 10 months
CK TU: 740; Wal-Mart TU FICO: 721
CS EX: 715
8 CCs, 15 total accounts.
Negs on report: 1 30 day late aged 3 years
5 inquiries

Re: FAKO VS FICO comparison

The utility of the ck score really depends on whether its major differences from FICO apply to you. For example, CK counts average age of open accounts, whereas fico counts average age of all posted accounts (including closed). If you have no closed accounts, both will track similarly. If, like me, you have over 20 closed accounts, the difference is significant. Same with inquiries. I had my only TU inquiry fall off yesterday. Today, ck was unchanged, but ck vantage went up 5 points. I'm reasonably sure my fico would bump at least a little going from 1 to 0. My guess is that inquiry penalties depreciate faster on CK than on fico, so I likely saw the benefit of aging inquiry on ck some time ago. My guess is someone with a relatively new profile, a ton of inquiries, no negatives and no closed accounts would see a strong correlation. The rest, not so much.

That being said, CK keeps getting more and more detailed, to the point where it is almost equivalent to a credit report. Also, the vantage is used by a few lenders. I continue to find ck more valuable for tracking my overall credit profile than scorewatch, credit sesame or credit.com

In wallet: Ink Plus 10k, AMEX TE 25k. In bag: CSP 16k, USAA WMC 15k, Hyatt 13k, United MPE 12k, AMEX HHonors 3k. In SD: Cap 1 QS 5k, Discover IT 7k. FICO 08 says my EQ is now 844, was 510 in 2010.

Re: FAKO VS FICO comparison

My CK is at 748 and TU08 is at 759.   On CK the CK score goes up, the Vantage score goes up and the Insurability score goes down.  Makes no rhyme or reason.

Re: FAKO VS FICO comparison

Just for sh!ts and giggles I logged on to credit karma to see if something new posted nearly heart nearly ripped through my chest when I saw 698 staring back at me when I knew I had 755 a month prior. Panicked strickened I paid the dang 19.95 for a transunion report to my relief 760 staring back at me backed by MYFICO- my trusted buddy!! Smiley Very Happy so basically, use ck for entertain, ent purposes or to keep track of accounts but don't worry if the numbers look scary. Although, sometimes the score given on ck can be higher than what myfico says. TRUST ONLY MYFICO! Smiley HappyHeart

Another comparison to add to the mix. My CK score: 638 MyFico TU: 670. I always tell people to take it with a grain of salt, because the scores are not worth the pixels they occupy on their monitor
