FICO Drop -76

I have been out of the country for the last 2 weeks and came back to a -76 point drop in my EQ (was 771).

I used 2 of my Chase VISA cards on a Far East trip which put my Util at 44%. I PIF EVERY month and did not have access to the Internet to pay prior to the statement posting date. PIF today which will only affect the next months FICO.

My util is always less than -5% with $52,000 in available revolving.

The FICO scoring system is sensitive my friends!

Re: FICO Drop -76

Overall UTL went to 44%?

This is posible-
10 to 15 points per 10% of UTL
10 to 30 points for # of accounts with balances

Were any of these cards "inactive" prior to use?

Re: FICO Drop -76

You weren't late on anything during those two weeks, right?

Did any other accounts change, like dropped accounts, new accounts, other lates, etc.?

Re: FICO Drop -76

BTW, 44% of $52,000.
I didn't know that the Far East is that expensive :-)

Re: FICO Drop -76

Timothy - both cards are active and PIF prior to statement date and this is done online with deduction from checking. Never an issue.

No lates and always PIF before due date. Checked all 3 CA's and no changes other than the Util.

Re: FICO Drop -76

I am having the same issue right now.. Charged $3000 to a previously inactive card and immediately paid it off and also had a new line of credit show up that I had paid down to $0 but is still showing a balance of $7k on the report.. If both are actually $0 balances now, how long until the score updates to reflect the decreased balances? I am in the process of buying a house, and this is something I really don't need to be happening right now - my score went down 60 pts and this is really hurting my chance of getting good rates! (Went from 750 to 689 overnight!)
