Hard Inquiries

On December 13, 2006 I wanted to get an idea of kind of interest rates I would get on a car loan and therefore I very naively went to LendingTree.com and completed an auto application.  I received an offer from Capital One Auto Finance which I never used and have kept my old car instead.

The problem is that after reading these forums and pulling all 3 of my credit reports I see that I got dinged with a hard inquiry from Capital One Auto Finance on all 3 credit bureaus. Is this normal for them to inquiry all 3 CRA's?  (All other inquiries I have over the last 5 years have been to just one of the CRA's)  How long do I have to wait for the inquiry not to negatively affect my FICO....1 year, 2 years?

Re: Hard Inquiries

Inquiries remain on your credit reports for up to two years. FICO scoring only factors inqs for 1 year, however.

Re: Hard Inquiries

And mortgage and auto usually pull all three and tend to use the middle one
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid
