I went part-time to school and racked up about 40k in student loans. I think I had a total of like 12-15 student loans which I consolidated. THey all say closed/refinanced. My brother said you never want to ever be late on a student loan payment as it has the biggest impact on your score. Is this true? I have 1 30-day late payment before I consolidated, and I am not sure why because they have always been in deferment status while I was in school and I am in the process of having it removed. How will removing the 30 day late from my credit report affect my credit?
Does having such a large amount consolidated loan hurt or help your credit?
