Every time you whip out your credit card! sad, but true. Or myFICO® Identity Theft Security Deluxe is also quarterly.

If you're in ScoreWatch, and you get a credit alert, your EQ score is a bit cheaper. But ScoreWatch seems to be lollygagging over the past several months, so it winds up being not very often.

If all you need is frequent reports (as opposed to frequent scores), I use TrueCredit and I can pull every 24 hours plus one minute. They seem current--if something doesn't show up, it's because the lender might have reported it, but the CRA hasn't gotten around to posting it yet.

Not yet banned from TrueCredit for frequent pulls--I'm starting to feel a little hurt, but I think Brammy frightened them into good behavior.

So if I was to use this ...  Suze Orman's FICO® Kit Platinum would I be able to check my credit score daily? Or would it be updated 4 times a year etc. ?

Re: How often is credit score updated?

Want the most detailed credit report, with information NOT provided on the myFico reports... for FREE!  As mandated by federal law.

Simple take advantage of the free, once a year credit report that you are entitled to at annualcreditreport.com.  You can only order it once a year, but if you havent done so in the last 12 months, you will be impressed at the detail not provided by the commercial sites.

As an example of what myFico, for example, does not provide, but is listed when you get your free EQ report from annualcreditreport.com, is the prefix explaining the specific type of each individual inquiry.   Only hard inquiries are provided by myFico, but the free report give you all inquiries, and their specific type.

There are seven types of inquiries.  He are the exact definitions as provided on the EQ credit report obtained thru annualcreditreport.com:

PRM:   Inquiries with this prefix indicate that only your name and address were given to a credit grantor so they can provide you a firm offer of credit or insurance.  (PRM inquiries remain for 12 months)

AM or AR:   Inquiries with these prefixes indicate a periodic review of your credit history by one of your creditors.  (AM and AR inquiries remain for 12 months)

EMPL:  Inquiries with this prefix indicate an employment inquiry.  (EMPL inquiries remain for 24 months)

PR:  Inquiries with this prefix indicate that a creditor reviewed you account as part of a portfolio they are purchasing.  (PR inquiries remain for 12 months)

Equifax or EFX:  Inquiries with this prefix indicate Equifax’s activity in response to your contact with them for a copy of your credit file of a research request.

ND:  Inquiries with this prefix are general inquiries that do not display to credit grantors.  (ND inquiries remain for 24 months)

ND MR:  Inquiries with this prefix indicate the reissue of a mortgage credit report containing information from your Equifax credit file to another company in connection with a mortgage loan.  (ND MR inquiries remain for 24 months)

Why equifax does not provide the same type of detail when we PAY for a report amazes me!

Robert you never get the softs on the FICO reports. Now if Transunion would get their **** together I could see who is peeking at my TU report every month besides Barclays.
