Right... let me rephase.. only you can see soft Inqs and to see soft Inqs you have to get your report directly from the CRA.. Makes sense as MyFICO only cares about items that affect your score (which is why you don't see Inqs over 12 mo old on your MyFICO reports).. I think many people would agree that if it doesn't affect their score they could care less. Us addicted people are the exception.. Smiley Happy

Now I understand.

Having opted out, it is interesting to see who is doing what in terms of soft enquiries though.  At least every couple of years or so, or when I get my free annual reports
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: How to increase score

Maybe Tuscani can address this. If a prospective lender learns all he needs to know by doing a soft pull why the boot in the behind with the hard pull? Especially multiple hard pulls and a rejection to boot. I hate AMEX. LOL. Really I do.

My guess is that the procedures agreed between the CRAs and member creditors require the creditors to properly code each inquiry. A lender would need to do a hard pull so that OTHER potential lenders could see how often a particular person was applying for credit. But Tuscani probably would know for sure ...

Re: How to increase score

My scores never went up with credit line increases. Only percentage effected it. And with higher credit lines my percentage of UTL is lower with same debt. But the credit lines never seemed to effect my scores on FICO. They did seem to effect my scores on FAKOs. Are you applying for this job or do you know for certain that you will get it?

Unless you are extremely careless with the new credit it would normally follow that a healthy increase in available credit would really help utilization. Don't know how much though since there are other factors at play. Problem here seems to be history.

I don't think they will know what the inquiries are for since they are only going to get a snapshot and not a running total on his credit lines. I've never heard of anyone getting CLI's that often. Are you sure that these are hard inquiries? It is listed in the reports.
