How to keep closed accounts on the credit report?

I have a couple of accounts that were closed in 2001 (both closed by OC due to being late on another account).  These accounts are, by law, scheduled to be deleted from my report in 2011.

How can I delay the removal of these accounts?  Both are positive tradelines that I want to keep as long as possible for obvious reasons (avg. age, good standing a/c).    Any thoughts?

You would need to reopen the account or somehow change the DOLA.

Tuscani, I figured I would need to update the DOLA.   My question is how?    It would be the same question if I asked about how to improve my credit score with 5 negative items on my credit report.

The answer is not "have the negative items removed!" (obviously), the answer is "How do I do this?

Obviously reopening will update the DOLA.. or you could simply call the creditor and ask them to do it. Smiley Happy
