According to scores pulled yesterday through myFico, my scores are as follows:
EQ - 737
TU - 772
EX - 774
These are all the 08 scores, but the other variations are fairly similar to these scores. Is it common for EQ to be ~30-35 lower than the other 2 scores??
Even when the exact same data appear to be showing across all three reports, it is not unusual for a person to have a significantly higher score at one bureau than at another. EQ might be the highest for Fred, TU the highest for Jane, EX the highest for Brenda.
This is because the FICO 8 algorithm itself is slightly different at each of the three bureaus. Each bureau has made changes to it based on their own agenda and vision and database requirements. These changes result in sometimes very different scores with the same data.
It is crucial to observe that one's data can APPEAR to be the same across all three bureaus when there are in fact not. The differences can be very subtle and hard to spot, even for people very experienced at reviewing their reports, but they might well make a difference to the scoring algorithm.
As it turns out, you do not mention that your data are identical, so that's the first place to start. Use your 3B report and go through it slowly and very carefully. Look to see whether there is something different (however small) about the data in the EQ report vs. TU and EX. The sound money would bet that there is -- though again even if the data were the same you could still get a score difference, though admiitedly 35 points stretches the plausibility a tiny bit there. 20-25 points is much more common.
