Letter of closure from Credit Card company

I was just removed as an AU on two CC's that were dragging down my credit score. One of the CC's faxed us over a letter stating that I had been removed and told us that if we faxed this over to the bureau's that it may take effect quicker than if they reported it.

We're in a situation where we're going to be buying a house soon due to an unexpected move (work related) and we're trying to spiff up our credit records real quick in order to get a good rate.

Is what the CC company told us correct? If so, do I just fax it over to Equifax and they'll know what to do with it? Something just didn't seem right about that...
