Is it correct to say the act of moving from one place to place does not affect your FICO score, but rather what is involved (credit checks for lease, utilities, cable, etc)? So if you move from place to place, and do not have to have credit checks (lets say you are rooming with someone you know), the address change on your credit report will not affect your score?

This is correct. Just the act of moving has absolutely no impact on your score. Where you live is not part of the scoring formula.

An additonal thought on the subject moving. If you utilities, cable related bills you might want to set up for those accounts to be charged to your credit card. I have read several posts about a bill not being received /thought all lthe bills were paid and the acocunt going to collection. The landlord you may want to give them a way to contact you after you move just in case if applicable.
Luckily all my service providers are pretty modern and automatically withdrawl from my checking account, including my closing costs. They don't want to rely on you sending payment if they don't have to as they want their money when they ask for it
