New inquiry = gain 5 pts

I just received a new inquiry on TransUnion and my score increased by 5 points. I never knew an inquiry could actually increase your score. Does anyone have some insight on this?

Maybe some other change(s) occurred that didn't trigger a myFICO alert for TU. When the inquiry was added, the alert was triggered and the score was recalculated? That's my guess.

That's a good guess, better than anything I could come up with. Thank you.

This just happened to me but with Experian. Two new inquiries reported and five points were gained. Cat Surprised
