Ok, Amex has my eq score at 671 and myfico has me at 697. Which one is right?

They are both probably correct. First of all are you sure that AMEX didn't give you an Experian ( EX ) score ?
MyFICO sells Transunion ( TU ) and Equifax ( EQ ).

AMEX almost always pulls EX, so I'm guessing that is probably what they gave you.

out of curiosity, how did AMEX notify you of the score?

It all depends on what they use to pull your credit.
I had my EQ at 743 here, Discover pulled it at 739.
AMEX had my EX at 760, so it's all over the place.

You,me and everyone else here. LOL if we really started to undertsand FICO scores the FICO police would come at night and take us away.
