This may be a dumb question but I must ask,
When my Fico 8 score increase would my Fico 4 score increase as well? I'm not sure, and my CU is using Fico 4 for loans and other things.

Generally yes but only in the same direction. The algorithms are different and the weightings aren't the same either. As a result a substantial change (or drop) on FICO 8 might not produce much of a benefit on FICO 04, and sometimes the converse is true.
The only place where we really see a split is in thin files and installment tradelines which we're still trying to nail down precisely what's going on there. FICO 8 appears to weight having open tradelines far more than earlier versions did, and installment loans are a little skewed too.
