Re: Student loans -- consolidation effects on credit.

You took your biggest hit because of the new card on your account.

Like Pizza said, I would not worry about the student loans.  You just bought a house and you will not be seeking new credit for a little bit.  You should only consolidate your student loans if it will benefit you in some way.  Your Fico will change day to day.  You might even get a little boost to your score when your mortage starts reporting.

I just consolidated mine, when the new accounts started reporting I lost 6 points on my EQ Fico. Still waiting for the others to show paid to see if that does anything. Currently my old loans had an upside down balance.
