Finally, after all the Capital One CO reporting problems for the past 2 years, I am happy to say.......and relieved, that my score increased after the fall off of the Capital One baddie.
2001 Capital One Charge Off started reporting monthly past due notations as well as their multi charge-off dates on 6/19/2008.
Equifax went up 85 points on 11/01/2008 --- new score..........720
TransUnion went up 68 points 11/15/2008 --- new score.........732
Experian before the freeze -- 570
Not gone from Experian.
They have changed the DOFD and the date to be removed so many times in the last two years, even with proof, I have given up on them.
I haven't disputed with them in over a year, however, I have received several account change notifications from my monitoring services that the dates have changed.
The last time was in April 2008, they changed it to reflect past due payments to start reporting, even though it was charged off in 12/2001. The date of first delinquency was 09/2001.
I suspect they may be using the 6 month or 180 day delete method.
I'm not going to be applying for anything that would require Experian, so I froze them.
I absolutely hate seeing the current past due payment notifications on my monitoring services from them. Every month since April I would see "You have a late payment reporting as of 30 days ago on your Capital One".
Equifax was doing the same thing, though!
Anyway, I know that in December my score should go up more as my balances will be paid way down!!
The start of the late payment notifications dropped my score from 669 to 570 on Experian.
I just pulled my Equifax report and Capital One has reinserted the 2001 Charge-Off account and reaged the account to show date of first major delinquency of 11/2008.
I am sick!!
This is very bad.
This dropped off my report October 2008.
I was being hit about 85 points for it reporting past due payments every month.
What is my line of attack???
