TU suddenly changes its mind and there is a 30 point drop

OK, so I looked at my TU report and there was a sudden 30 point drop.  My util has gone from 19 to 5%, so my debt has gone from "good" to "very good".  Everything else is pretty much identical, but they have decided that 23 total accounts is too many.  It has been that number since January, and was 24 nefore that because on aged off at Xmas.

Nothing significant has changed, but my score dropped from 787 to 757.

Very strange.  It also says

"FICO High Achievers  have an average of 6 accounts currently paid as agreed."

What?
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: TU suddenly changes its mind and there is a 30 point drop

Well, you are the FICO scoring dartboard today, aren't you?

Have you moved into the 19+ year score bucket? The standards seem especially brutal there. Smiley Sad It seems like they go by those accursed High Achievers characteristics.

The characteristics being accursed, not the High Achievers. Not most of them, anyway. Smiley Wink

BTW, does TU display your HELOC balance on the screens that show your revolving balance? Mine does, and it annoys the heck out of me, although it isn't being scored that way. It shows this on util on the second screen, on Credit-at-a-Glance, and on the sim.

I am in the 20 plus years  Smiley Happy

TU has the little house next to it  Smiley Happy

And it is NOT in the revolving credit bit

Re: TU suddenly changes its mind and there is a 30 point drop

Hmm, I have a little house, too, but they certainly display it in the revolving balance categories.

I can live with it, since it isn't scored that way, but it certainly is irritating playing with the TU sim, when I have to pretend paying down a balance of $23,284, instead of $5,978. Smiley Tongue

Re: TU suddenly changes its mind and there is a 30 point drop

And the simulator says that the best action is to pay for 24 months (surprise!) - and that does not bring my score up more than 20 points and I have lost 30!!

Well, at least two accounts are due to drop off later this year

What I have learned is that the higher my scores get, the stranger the FICO comments get.Smiley Sad

Once one gets to the high 700s anything can happen to both the score and the comments.  Smiley Sad

But there is one small problem doing this, try finding a lender who is willing to play with MV AND TU. Hardly anyone seems to pull the dinosaur, TU.

Re: TU suddenly changes its mind and there is a 30 point drop

And DW's score dropped 21 points for no reason.

So two big drops over the last month - one wonders if they are using a different version of FICO (not '08)
