Just a data point for anyone looking to see how much _purely_ a util change can affect a score, here's the senario:
Reports pulled three days apart, only one thing changed (in bold)
Card 1 (Freedom) - 1500/ 1325 > 535
Card 2 (Cap 1) - 750/ 168
Card 3 (Cap 1) - 750/ 158
Card 4 (Care Credit) - 3000/ 600
Card 5 (Amex) - na/ 291
Two open auto loans
One closed auto loan
One open collection (~7 yrs old)
No other derogatory marks
AAoA - 5 yrs (Reports pulled three days aparts, so I wouldn't expect any appreciable difference here)
So total util goes from 38% to 24%, a single card goes from 88% to 36%, and the score jump was 676 to 691. I'm also trying to capture the before/after on that collection falling off, and will report back there as well.
Congrats! Util is a big deal.
If you can get the other CCs PIF so just a single CC reports I think your score would be into the 700's.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure lower util will bump me into the 700's (open collection and all!) The plan is to report the "perfect 1 card, <9%" and have the collection "fall off" by August or so. Should be in pretty good shape then
