TU = TransUnion.
The score that Wal-Mart provides for free is a FICO score. It's a TU FICO score. The score offered here on myFICO.com is also a TU FICO. The TU FICO offered by Wal-Mart is a TU FICO we call TU08. It was developed in 2008. The TU FICO on here is a TU98, and developed in 1998. So, if you pulled from here, it is accurate. If you get it from Wal-Mart it is accurate. They just won't match because the model years differ. So, in answering your initial question, the TU08 is accurate. Your lender may or may not provide a TU FICO that matches with Wal-Mart's free FICO.
