I just lost 32 freaking points and I have no idea why! Myfico is showing me this but it doesnt make sense why Equifax reporting that it is in dispute would drop my score by 32 points. I just double checked my credit report and only other thing I can think of it is that stupid AFNI changed my balance from 612 to 162 insteading of freaking DELETING it! I just don't get it....

I think that would probably be the reason. Also FICO doesn't include child support accounts in scoring.
Well I guess that answers the question "Can paying a collection hurt my score?" short answer YEP if you dont do a PID
Having one removed can also lower your score.
That happened to me, when I GW'd amex. To remove the derog, meant having my oldest reporting TL removed.
My score dropped again! Now back to 545 I dont understand it. I give up
