Re: What is considered "high balance" on a CC?

Excellent, this is all very helpful!

So the payment has to -clear- by the 30th, or just be received?

It has to be posted to the account so it shows zero when you look at it on line.

Clear. If you pay through their website, you should pay by the 28th by 4pm (eastern, I think) to avoid a rush payment fee. Otherwise if you pay by their website, you need to pay the fee if you want it to post by the morning of the 30th.

Keep in mind that your CC's actual due date might be before that day based on your statement. In the beginning, I had to mentally convince myself that my due date was around the 15th (based on my statement) and had to pay again before the last business day of the month to get it to report the balance that I'd like it to report.
