Are you saying I should pay both cards to a zero balance for 2 consecutive payments, then leave a 1% balance on one card for the 3rd payment/month?

Drop the 2nd card to zero balance reporting and see what happens. Then get the other card to under $300. You likely will see a good point gain as this brings the card to under 50% utilization and your AG UT to under 20%. Getting the AG UT % down is important.
