Re: What will get me from 624 to 640?

BUMP FOR PT.

Score update:  As of 8/15/11 when I broke down and got a new EQ report - score is still stuck at 635.  The inquiry from the last lender pull had hit the report but didn't affect the score, yet.  Or maybe it won't because I have so may recently (4).

Enjoy the read.  Probably will bore you to death.  I use this forum as a reference point for myself as I build.  Try to keep posts on the same thread ( or thread on the same post??) but sometimes I have to start a new one to get attention if I have a "real" question.  Most folks know to just skip right over me by now!  Though I think I have a few fans.

This thread is like a good book; I keep wanting to read more to see your overall results and day to day results.  It's also very inspiring to see someone working so hard to get where they want to be!

PT - unfortunately, I think the book has ended, at least for now.  I have no idea how I am going to get all three scores to continue on.  Will def keep updates with my EQ score as I have SW.

Re: What will get me from 624 to 640?

The new goal is seven grand'ish for a roof.  We probably have at least another year w/ the roof we have but it needs done sooner rather than later.  DH's BFF does roofs so we don't need to pay for install.   The house funded Friday so this week I have played with my credit and this is what I have added:

1.  Walmart card - applied online and was given a whopping $400.00 limit.  The purpose of this card is for the free TU score each month - I won't get to see the score until the card arrives and I get my account going online.  They give you six months no interest for charges over 299.00.  This could be real trouble so I know I have to PIF no matter what.  I also don't get the spend 100 get 20 back because I had to do that online before I applied.  Rip Off.

2.  Hit the limit increase button on JCP and was promoted from $1000.00 to $1500.00.  CareCredit denied my limit increase as did Fingerhut.  First Premier still won't give me a limit increase but want to give me another card.  I have to close it by the end of October or I will be hit with the annual fee of 49.00.   The monthly fee of 7.00 is so irritating and I'm thinking of just closing it right now.  Why not?

3.  Called the Credit Union (they use EQ) and wanted a credit card and overdraft protection.  The UW told me I could only have one for now and we'll renegotiate in two months.  Picked $400.00 OD protection.  Not sure how the fees/interest works on that as I have to get back to work to send them all the info and sign the applications.  Slightly irritated they wouldn't give me a credit card so I could close First Premier.  SO happy to have OD protection.  In the past when things were hairy I would get a cash loan from USFASTCASH.  They only charge me 11.00 per 100 borrowed, so it isn't bad, but it isn't good either.

$1300 more in credit ain't so bad considering my scores.....Want so bad a chase freedom CC but have to have the bk off and that won't be until 2013.   All revolving accounts are reporting as zero on my reports and my EQ score has been STUCK at 635.  CU said it was 635 so I know myfico is working in that regard, but they aren't giving me credit alerts for the new inquiry so I'm p....d off.

4.  DH was approved at Lowe's for $300 and immediately raised the limit to $1000.00.  I'm an AU on that card, if they report that AU account will probably remove myself.  Doing this merely out of curiousity.  Immediately maxed the card w/ new fridge and hot water heater - will pay in full on the first.  Will continue to use and pay, use and pay.  If we don't get a line of credit from the CU on the house w/ a good rate, then we are probably going to have to use the Lowe's card for the roof stuff.  They have a six month "project card"  w/ no interest, but we can't pay off 7k in 6 months anyway.  MUST GET HELOC.

I'm wondering how long until the mortgage hits and what that will do to my score.

It's different for everyone, but with a BK and a few new accounts, when my mortgage hit (previous mortgage was in DH's name only) I had no FICO impact whatsoever.  Nada point up, nada point down.

BTW, I would want to close FP, too.  Do you have any other bank card open?  If not - keep FP open for the time being.

Re: What will get me from 624 to 640?

Hi, Beam.  Nope, no other bank cards  aside from my debit card.  That dang CU!  400 lousy bucks.

FYI for anyone interested - Lowe's hit DH's credit already ( 4 days!).  His score up 9 points per Credit Karma.  Probably FICO went down.    Anyway. the AU account hasn't hit me though I hear it will cuz it's GE money.   Interesting that it hasn't, tho and his did.
