CONGRATS.
@jamie123 wrote:The CO has been there all 6 years and a few months. The only thing I can think of is that once the CO fell off my wife was rebucketed to a scorecard that allows high scores. She does have some old history on her reports and 2 four year paid-off auto loans that were always paid on time. Her EQ report is 100% clean now.
Her TU and EX reports still have the CO on them and her scores there are in the 7teens.
This precisely mirrors my experience. I have a 7 year old tax lien that vanished from TU, TU currently sits at 800, while the other two are around 720.
Whoa! Amazing. I love seeing these reports; they give me hope for what I can do.
Better news yet! The CO fell off TU and EX with similarly great results!
I'm not sure how many people are interested in this but I thought I'd post detailed results so anybody that's interested can find out just how much an old baddie can cost you in points.
The only difference in the 3 reports now are 1 or 2 inquiries but most important is that EQ and EX are still reporting an old and closed store card from 1987. My wife's next oldest CC is only 4 years old. This seems to be the cause of the TU score being much lower than EQ and EX. Don't close those old cards people!
These scores are not groomed. These scores reflect 5 of 6 revolving accounts reporting small balances. We typically use all of our cards each month but PIF after reporting.

This will take several posts so I'll be back with more.
This shows my wife's MyFICO score history since we started rebuilding 3 years ago. She added cards and removed some baddies and UTI changed quite a bit from time to time but as you can see, as long as she had that CO on her reports we couldn't get her scores to move.

Well, that's about it.
Now on to fix my scores.
Thanks for this illustration...it shows how important ontime payment and utilization is ... so it has been taken off EX and TU in the meantime as well !
