Do you mean the CO is 6 years old? What was the update on the credit report? You could try to write a GW letter and if it was paid they may delete it for you

For a charge off that old I doubt they were still reporting every month, so the dispute probably triggered new updates monthly.
What was the asserted inaccuracy in their reporting that was the basis for your dispute?

Had the same thing happen. What I believe this attributes to is length of your credit history. That CO was factored in (despite being a negative) and when it was deleted it adjusted your credit history length down.
I had that happen to me also. Wasnt a 50 points drop, but still was substantial.
OK now i have to ask a question here.
Lets say you have a 6 year old CO unpaid that stopped reporting. The TL still shows on your CRs and wont drop off for another year. How does disputing this ( and causing the CG to resume reporting ) cause your score to drop when the TL was on the CR to begin with? After the score drops does it rebound quickly even if CG continues now to report?
