credit score criteria

I heard via the grapevine that FICO watches where you shop and where you shop influences your credit score. Is this correct? And if so, how does it affect your score?

Re: credit score criteria

Not FICO, maybe the credit card companies, but not FICO.

FICO only receives the statement balances, the dollar amounts. That does not tell them anything about where you have shopped, only that you have spent X amount of money on a particular account.

CC companies on the other hand, sometimes use a "first-use" model. They see where and what types of charges you are using your card for shortly after you have received it. Supposedly, there is a correlation between what you use the card for initially and the probability of default.
